I wish that someone would have gotten on her regarding the split position in her tour jete. It just wasn't anywhere near the 180 degrees needed to get the full bonus from it. If she had started correcting it here, it wouldn't have been such a problem in Beijing a year later.

I find Mark's style of dancing to be over the top and distracting. He is very talented and a technically excellent dancer, but he dances with so much exageration and expression and it is distracting.

The only weight problem I have seen with gymnasts is that they are too thin. What gymnasts is she looking at? Most of them back them could have blown over with a soft wind. What is she looking at?

With that front double twist vault, she always needs to be thinking to never land with locked knees. Doing so is always bad, but on those forward landing saltos it is even more important to avoid it. If she does, she is really risking a serious knee injury.

Actually, she did this vault better in later years. It is very nice here, but there is the slightest bit of pike position in the vault as she prepares for her landing. In 1992, she really emphasized the layout position even more with almost no break in the body line at all.

@dmitrigarcia Her dismount wasn't really difficult enough (just a double twist) to get a high score. Plus a couple of her landings were very low (her chest low to the ground). She also didn't have any combination tumbling which was sort of an unwritten requirement during this time.

For Bogi to have won here, she needed to have added one more significant element to her UB routine. That was her downfall. She performed her UB routine very well, but the judges did not think the difficulty was enough compared to the competition.

In the footage of training from Russia, you can see her with her natural darker haircolor. I think she looks so much prettier when her hair isn't so severely bleached and lightened. When it is too blond, it sort of washes out her skintone and delicate facial features.

That mount should have had a .3 deduction just by itself. Ridiculous score for this routine.

@TheSienna29 She did place 1st in the SP. It was the only portion of the competition that she won. She was 3rd in figures and 2nd in the Free program. That was enough to give her 1st place overall when the competition was over.

The deductions here are bent kness on the takeoff of the reverse hecht, and a pretty large hop back on the landing of the dismount.

The only possible deductions that I see were a little lack of amplitude on the first release move, and being somewhat bent over when she landed the dismount. All the pirouettes over the bars seemed to be done at the right angles and atop the bars, so I don't think those would have caused deducti...

She did that last pass better than anyone else. Strong kick out of the tuck position right at the vertical with lots of power and height. Incredible.

@gymnasticsforever17 are you kidding me? This is a good solid effort. But it was heavy footed and lacking in fluidity at almost every moment. None of her elements compare favorably in quality to those of Silivas.

That was a ten? He was so low on the landing.....his face almost touched the mat. But great height and body line in the air.

I am kind of surprised watching this. He doesn't hit the handstand very well in many of his skills. I would have thought that the Soviet men from that era would have been perfect.

The best of anyone there, including Boginskaya. She should have had the highest score with everyone else at least .10 behind (keep in mind, that one tenth was a big deal back then.....typcially gymansts were separated by scores like 9.937 versus 9.95. )
