About Me:
 
Sasa Jakelic (tenor) was born in Split. Befor he started singing in opera he spent ten years (1992-2002) as tenor in dalmatian traditional vocal group (klapa) «Sufit». At that time they recorded their first CD --Dobro jutro more). Sasa also performed at various pop music festvials: Opuzen 1996- Grand prix (Judi o soli), MHJ '99, '00, '01 (with Hari Roncevic's song - Putnik tvoga broda), Zagreb fest, Sibenik 2006- Grand Prix --Dite jubavi). It is interesting to know that in 2005 he recorded one of the leading roles in musical «Grgur» under the guidance of the late composer Zdenko Runjic. Simultaneously, he had numerous gigs with Split pop band «Fingers». He often worked with Goran Karan and appeared as his guest on numerous concerts in Lisinski (Zagreb) 2000 and 2007, on Peristil (Split) 2000, and in the HNK - Split the same year with the song «Unchained melody» Together with Goran Karan he recorded bilingual cross over duet «Un segno dell amore (2008) in which Sasa sings in Italian. In «Dite jubavi» - Grand Prix Sibenik 2006 - Sasa sings as featurad vocalist. Both songs are on the album «Dite jubavi». In the premiere of the famous operette «Spli'ski akvarel» and in the many performances that followed, he performed the leading tenor role of Tonci. In August 2009 on the pop music fest Opuzen 2009 he won the jury 's 1st prize with song «Ostat cu sam» (E.Pelaic). His latest project is the unplugged interpretation of the foreign and Croatian evergreens accompanied by acoustic guitars and percusion. OPERA: He took his first solo classes with Irma Omcikus, and continued as the Academy student in the class of prima donna Nelli Manuilenko in HNK Split. As the UMAS student he won ther first prize in the county and the second prize on the state competition. He attended Masterclass with Mo. Mario Melani at Academia Internazionale di Canto -- Renata Tebaldi & Mario del Monaco, Pesaro, Italy in 2006. He also attended Masterclasses with KS Olivera Miljakovic in Split and Wienna, Austria. He participated as the only Croatian representative and as one of the chosen 40 out of more than 1000 singers from all over the world at the famous Placido Domingo's competition Operalia 2006, in Valencia, Spain. In 2008 he participated at the first international competiotion Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, Italy. In Modena he had the great oportunity to work with one of the greatest tenors ever -- Carlo Bergonzi. Till now he performed the following roles: Ismaelle (Nabucco -- G. Verdi), Tonci Morovica (Spli'ski Akvarel -- I. Tijardovic), Lensky (Eugen Onegin -- P. I. Tchaikovsky), Lovro Juranic (Nikola Subic Zrinjski -- I. pl. Zajc), Mirko (Mala Floramye -- I. Tijardovic), Il Messagero (Aida -- G. Verdi), Le Remendado (Carmen -- G. Bizet), Gastone (La Traviata -- G. Verdi), Lord Arturo Bucklow (Lucia di Lammermoor -- G. Donizetti), Un araldo reale (Don Carlo - G. Verdi), Il Contadino (Luisa Miller -- G. Verdi), Svecenik (Judita -- F. Parac), Steuermann (Die Fliegende Hollander -- R. Wagner) - with late mo.Vjekoslav Sutej as conductor, Edmondo (Manon Lescaut -- G. Puccini), Isus (Muka Gospodina nasega Isukrsta -- B. Papandopulo). He has performed numerous solo operatic concerts.
