The 1979-1983 Prelude also got one star, but this was a much "worse" 1 star result, with head injury forces that would have instantly killed a real driver. (Report 216)

The 1984-1987 got four stars because the dummy struck the softer steering wheel rim first, and it's likely that the steering wheel and dashboard surfaces were better designed and the seat belts better at stopping the dummy. Maybe they "got it right" that generation, then messed up for 1988? (Report 745)

The forces in the 1988-1991 were "only" sufficient to cause severe injury.

I hope I was of some help.

Trucksoner, I searched for you too; there was no video for the 1988-1991 Prelude. The original report, number 1454 in the NHTSA database (search "NHTSA Crash Test Database"), then "Query by Test Parameters" and put 1454 in the Test No. space. The dummy in this vehicle hit the steering wheel hub, causing a high head deceleration and hence a high risk of head injury.

Comment continues, this is part 1 of 2.

360dodge - The NHTSA Database - just Google search "NHTSA Crash Test Database". I checked for any 1969-1973 model year full size Chrysler crash test footage, and I am sad to report that there was none, not even a single crash test done.

I know I'm not imzjustplayin, but I'll answer comments to the best of my ability.

where do you get your crash test footage? Do you have anything on 1969-1973 Chrysler full size cars. New Yorker, Newport, Imperial, Dodge Monaco/Polara, Plymouth Fury etc?
