Impumelelo Innovations Award Trust is a South African NGO which has since 1999 identified, rewarded, and promoted good governance through an annual award programme. Impumelelo is an independent organisation focused on building capacity for effective service delivery in South Africa. It has done this through the advanced study of innovative examples of public service projects initiated by the public sector and civil society. Award-winners are enlisted to train and educate public managers in government, private sector and civil society leaders from across South Africa. The knowledge accumulated in our database over ten years has translated into the production of case study research, policy analysis, and training workshops to encourage replication of innovative projects in South Africa. Our intention is to build communities of best practice that will fundamentally address the quality of life of the poor.
