Janet is a versatile jazz vocalist who performs jazz standards, blues, and Latin tunes. She is not content to just deliver the song - she sings the story it tells in the context of her own life. Her smokey sweet voice and blues influences made her a favorite performer for weddings, parties, concerts, and clubs in Birmingham, Alabama.

Her father, the late William A. (Bill) Stevenson, was a Birmingham jazz drummer. For Janet, jazz has been a part of her life since childhood. She began dance lessons at two, classical piano lessons at six, and has been singing since she was eight. At 18, she began performing in musical theater.

In addition to leading her own jazz quartet in Birmingham, Janet has performed with some of Alabama's most notable jazz musicians, including Cleveland Eaton, bassist, formerly with the Count Basie Orchestra and the Ramsey Lewis Trio. She also appeared in the musical Tuxedo Junction, with renowned bandleader and trumpeter Erskine Hawkins and arranger Sammy Lowe.

Janet studied jazz vocals with Judy Niemack and Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Janet Lawson. She has also studied with Ellis Marsalis, Barry Harris, and David Amram.

Janet lives in the Atlanta 'burbs with her husband and best friend, Dave. She is working on her first CD.
