I'd like to think my friends might tell you I'm: completely sensual, totally intellectual, and emotionally intelligent. I try to work on at least one thing consistently...: myself. I try to cultivate my humanity, and make gentle the life of this world (though on occasion, I also slap myself around...heehee...) I feel like I'm a realistic idealist...I'm passionate about big ideas and issues, and in my own own way, I try to have a positive impact. I hope I have the power to inspire others to dream and strive for something more...Ive been very interested in Eastern cultures since being turned onto Zen from reading Zen and the Art of Archery at the age of thirteen I loved the idea that we are all, fundamentally, one (though I can forget this in traffic ;o)) I like getting into a "flow" state acting, singing, writing poetry, making music, journaling, dancing, etc. Some of my treasured experiences: singing as a member of the American Boychoir at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center; living for a total of four years in Japan, teaching English, and learning Japanese; volunteering for three weeks in Thailand to help build an elementary school; being an after-school counselor at the Mt. Hope Family Center in Rochester, N.Y., which does nationally recognized work with at-risk children; and volunteering as a Compeer, a friend to a mental health outpatient (in my case, John, a paranoid schizophrenic, who became a dear friend and who has taught me more about life than almost anyone else). I can tend to be a night owl. To me, the most important thing in life is who I am. And what time's dinner. BaDUM, bum. What's the most important thing in life to you? For fun I love watching and talking about movies (especially foreign ones), browsing "dollar" stores for knick-knacky items to use in art projects, club dancing (I have a weakness for 70's Disco...move over, Danny Terio!), and much more...Workwise, I'm (hopefully...heh-heh) between jobs...I'm cultivating my creativity by getting into screenwriting, poetry, and multi-media play, among other things...I'm looking to do some tutoring as I figure out what I want to get my Master's in. I try to live an ethical life, and to cultivate balance, wisdom, and mindfulness. My faith is in myself, making art, and trying every day to talk about what is important, funny, and interesting. Show me an angel and I'll gladly paint you one. I graduated from the U. of Rochester with a History BA, focusing on Asia, which I've been fascinated by since reading pulp fiction about ninjas when I was ten...I'm planning on going for a Master's Degree in Education/History/Communications/Other. I would love to go out dancing sometime -- particularly at Carpe P.M. or The Corner Pocket; sometimes I like wild and crazy bars (but only with friend/s), and other times I like mellowing out/kibitzing at a coffee shop like Aroma's, or at a park. A few favorite things: Cat Power's music, Antonioni's films, Kit Kat candies, Deva Lifewear apparel, red colors, ReadyMade Magazine, Tilda Swinton in anything, Janwillem Van De Wetering's Gripstra & De Geir novels, Calvin Klein's One scent. I try to be self-aware and to change my behavior towards who I aspire to be.
