The International Labour Organization (ILO) is the tripartite United Nations agency that brings together governments, employers and workers of its member states in common action to promote decent work throughout the world.

The ILO is devoted to advancing opportunities for women and men to obtain decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equity, security and human dignity. Its main aims are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue in handling work-related issues.

MasterCard Foundation create "Work4Youth" partnership with the ILO
The International Labour Office (ILO) and The MasterCard Foundation have forged a unique partnership to promote decent work among young people facing a worsening jobs crisis marked by high unemployment, working poverty and youth discouragement. The five year, $14.6 million "Work4Youth" partnership will increase the global awareness of the challenges facing young people as they move from education to the world of work. The partnership supports the improvement of youth employment policy making and programme development worldwide.

Lessons for the US? The decline of the labor movement has undermined social dialogue. "Occupations" have erupted in response. Time to hold the US accountable for failing to respect the rights of workers!
