About Me:
Illy Rap was raised in the beautiful State of New York. Growing up within an ear shot of the big city has offered many opportunities for Illy; although, he would frequently spend time in Woodstock New York, home of many great festivals, well-known musicians, and closer to where he resided in Kingston, New York. This has opened many doors for this young talent. He began to express himself artistically at a very young age. Inspired by the increasingly popular hip hop scene and being raised within the culture, Illy Rap started beat boxing. As early as six years old, he amazed audiences with his perfect note imitations of drum machines, sound effects and popular tunes. He performed around the neighborhood for family, friends, and at his elementary school for the students and faculty. Later on he was even compared to the likeness of hip hop great Doug E. Fresh. From there, he took his skills even further by writing original rap lyrics and then years later; recording, producing, and teaching himself how to play piano and the bass guitar. Along his journey, Illy has learned many things about different types of music and formed amazing relationships. Currently, he is working closely with one of the lasting local studios in the area and some of those established musicians that remain in the area as well. This very ambitious man is no stranger to hard work.
In late 2005 Illy Rap positioned himself as a respected pillar in the local Rap community by starting his own record label/production company, Illy Rap Recordings. Based in Kingston New York, Illy Rap Recordings has cataloged musical works by F.A.M., top selling DJ Big Mike, super-producer Vinny Idol of D-Block, multi-platinum selling Chad Beats of G-Unit and many other remarkable talents. In only a few years Illy Rap has solidified himself in the underground music scene and is a major force to be reckoned with by the Record Biz. He built Illy Rap Recordings on the premise of artistic freedom and contributions to the betterment of society as a whole. Illy Rap is dedicated to represent through music & taking action with a message of truth and standing up for the rights of people. Illy says "It was always my vision to be successful, take care of my family, become a activist and philanthropist." Currently, he works as a research associate and receives a wide range of data and provides services to various clients. Although deeply researched and informed on many different levels; it is his passion for music, where he attained friends & colleagues in music and Show Business. Illy Rap has had the opportunity to meet and work with many great people, but still manages a nice balance between mingling with A-List celebrities and talented up and comers. He is making his mark in the underground scene by uplifting public consciousness, and being openly expressive about historical/current events. He is considered by many to be one of the most prominent upcoming Hip Hop leaders. Nevertheless, Illy's plan isn't to become Mainstream but to take it over with realness & truth.
Illy Rap continues to make new music on a day to day basis and he also attends local music showcases and makes special guest appearances at red carpet events. His music has been published on various top radio stations for Hip Hop & RnB. He was Hot 97's Spit Fire champion and had his own webpage on their website. His music has also been acknowledged by hip hop magazine publications in the UK and broadcast on radio stations in Amsterdam. Illy Rap has ghostwritten/produced songs for Reebok commercials, Motion Picture films (ie National Lampoon®) and other artist such as Diddy. Most recently, Hip Hop legend Chuck D of Public Enemy introduced the radio debut of Illy Rap's song "My Country, This Country" on his "And You Don't Stop" radio show over the airwaves of New York City and via the internet worldwide. Having a reigning endorsement from such a legendary pioneer of the culture has really started a major buzz for Illy. By staying true to his nickname "Illy", standing for: intellectually lyrical, and remaining close with his "FAM" meaning: forever a member, he will for sure continue making a mark in rap history.
