@heyitsmeaspen i didn't even see that you responded to this! Yeah, I was just saying that sometimes thinking more of lifting in your stroke is all it takes to produce a warmer sound. I guess lately I've had a personal preference for heavier/full bodied mallets as well like the ones marimba one ...

yeah, if he's not into it he shouldn't do it. he's not bad, but not good enough to make a living at it. it's a dime a dozen for a percussionist at his level. it takes a TON of work to get to the next level, and if that's not his passion, then screw it... who cares?
