Idiot Box Ep 22: Funny Women on TV - Parks & Rec's Amy Poehler, 30 Rock's Tina Fey & Modern Family
In SideReel's new TV commentary webseries, Idiot Box, TV addicts Sungmi and Jesse reveal their picks for the funniest women on TV including 30 Rock's Tina Fey, Parks & Recreation's Amy Poehler, the female leads in Modern Family, Happy Endings, 2 Broke Girls. Who are your favorite female comedians on TV?

Jesse: Welcome back to Idiot Box. Our topic today is female comedians on television and Sungmi, we want to know. Who's the best?
Sungmi: I think there are so many great hilarious women on TV right now it's hard to just list a few. But some of my favorites are Tina Fey of 30 Rock. Amy Poehler of Parks and Rec. I think they are both doing phenomenal jobs. As they have been for many seasons now. And also I think there are great women on ensemble comedies like Happy Endings. I think the women on that show are great every week. It's so funny. But one woman I don't think people are talking about enough is Beth Behrs of 2 Broke Girls. Say what you will about 2 Broke Girls, but I think she's really funny, totally goes for it, and really pulls it off.
Jesse: I mean I think it's true that she's managing to rise above the material, but, you know, the material is just so bad. On both that show and, you know, it's created by the same person that created Whitney on NBC, hence, bad material. But there is one other set of female comedians that I'd like to point out which is the entire cast of Modern Family is crushing it this season.
Sungmi: Totally!
Jesse: From Sophia Vergara down through Julie Bowen and the two girls. They just bring it every week. And you know I also think they have the benefit of working with much better material. But yeah.
Sungmi: But yeah, I think those girls are deffinitely holding there own and like I feel like they are really funny and totally are awesome on the show. I agree. Alright, so I guess we can clearly say that women are a little funnier than men on TV right now. Wouldn't you agree?
Jesse: No, I don't think that's clear at all. I think that there are some funny women and some funny men and I think we can just leave it at that.
