About Me:
In 1992, he came to reside in Spain, studying in a self taught manner and also furthered his education by taking a course in composition and harmony from the Berkley School of Music. His style of composing always marks his roots: the rhythms and colors of afro-cuban music.
Mr. Alderete possesses a wide chamber music repertory that includes such formats as duo, trio, quartet, sextet, septet, nonet and works for string orchestra.
He has also written more ample works such as his two concertos for Marimba and Orchestra. The first, dedicated to Carolina Alcaráz, was given its debut in the Cervantes theater in Almería, Spain in 2006. It has later been performed in numerous venues such as the "Manuel de Falla" theater, Cádiz, the "Fuengirola" auditorium, Málaga, and the "Gran Teatro" in Elche. The second concerto, also dedicated to Ms. Alcaráz and the Minnesota International Marimba Festival was debuted on April 29, 2010 at the same festival.
Included in his works for percussion are the "Duo for Marimba and Contrabass," and the "Mosaic Suite" for vibraphone, string quintet and piano. Also one must mention his Trumpet Concerto, Contrabass Concerto and Clarinet Concerto; the last being debuted during the 2007/2008 concert season of the Córdoba Orchestra.
At the moment his symphonic repertoire encompasses the following works: "La Leyenda del Cimarrón", a work commissioned by Manuel Hernández Silva, the chief conductor of the Córdoba Orchestra and debuted in its 2007/2008 season, "Evocación al Recuerdo" (Evocation to Remembrance), a work dedicated to Manuel Hernández Silva, and "Nostalgia del Sur" (Southern Nostalgia), which will be performed for the first time as part of the Córdoba Guitar Festival with the Córdoba Orchestra under the baton of Juan Luis Pérez.
Recently he has composed his 1st Symphony, "Influencias," commissioned by the Author's Foundation, AEOS and the Córdoba Orchestra. The work will be performed in June, 2011 by the Córdoba Orchestra with Manuel Hernández Silva as conductor and obtaining the 3º prize at the International Composition Competition José White, for the work Quartet nº 2 "Gismontiano"
