A slug doesnt have a prime mover but motor just for traction they get there power from the mother unit which its attached to. Some slug will even cut off the traction motor once the train reaches a certain speed.

The Sd60Fs have 3800 HP and the train can run long hood forward but cant go faster then 25 MPH due to lack of ditchlights and no longer then 25 miles covered. Thats the rule whether the crew follows it is another story. I bet the crew was wishing they had any other unit then this one running this...
