THE STORY OF MR WHISTLEY, BUDDHABIRD AND BABY

We had never had birds before and never even considered having them.

That changed on Labor Day 2008 we saw something fall past our window. I looked out to see that our cat had a pet bird with a mohawk in his mouth. This turned out to be Buddhabird. We took her to a bird rescuer who told us it was a cockatiel with clipped wings and to take her home for a week and put out signs for her owner. We did that and then prayed that nobody would call on our signs as we had fallen in love with her.

After a month she would just scream when you left the room and we knew she needed a buddy. So we took Buddhabird and went to a breeder to choose from four candidates.

With Buddhabird on my lifemate's shoulder, Mr Whistley was the first one to be put on his shoulder. He promptly went over to Buddhbird and started wolf whistling at her. We knew he was the one for her and us!

He came pre-programed with wolf whistles and charge whistles. He is such a good whistler. He picked up phone ringing and my lifemate taught him "Whistle while You Work" and "Star Wars". He is now working on " Hi Ho Hi Ho Off To Work You Go"

He started whistling "Whistle While You Work" after sex with Buddhabird for over a year before I got a cell phone with a camera. And Noooo.. we did not teach him when to sing that. He is just quite a character.

Last October we bought a birdhouse and let them hatch one of the many eggs that Buddhabird lays. So now we have Baby who grew to full size in just one month and the process of seeing both of them take care of her was really rewarding. Baby is very funny and clumsy and we just love her.
