iMentor's mission is to improve the lives of young people from underserved communities in New York City through innovative, technology-based approaches to youth mentoring and education. iMentor creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships between high school-aged youth (mentees) and caring adult mentors. Every mentor-mentee pair cultivates their relationship using iMentor's pioneering combination of weekly email correspondence and regular in-person meetings. iMentor uses mentoring to bridge the divide between New York City's eclectic communities, creating unique and dynamic relationships that would not have been possible without the program.
About Me:

iMentor, founded in 1999, is changing the face of youth mentoring. Incorporating mentoring best practices and research, iMentor capitalizes on email and emerging technologies to add structure and flexibility to its mentoring relationships. Over the last eight years, iMentor has provided mentoring, skills, and opportunities to over 5,000 young people from some of the most under-served communities of New York City.

A product of iMentor's seven years of experience, iMentor Interactive (iMi) is an online social network designed specifically for mentoring and available to schools and youth development organizations around the world. iMi provides each organization eith its own independent and secure social network, while providing participants and staff with all the tools and expertise necessary to run a quality mentoring program, instantly. Over the next five years, iMi aims to make and support 10,000 new mentor-mentee matches.
