The Final Part in my Final Fantasy III - NES walkthrough.
Well here she is in all her glory, the Dark Cloud. I literally played this perfectly, and suspicions really should be raised by how well planned out my every action is, including a Life2 on an alive character to revive after Dark Cloud takes it out. Needless to say with my save state, copying my exact moves will result in exactly the same numbers in every round. This took about 15 times to find the right combinations of attack, altering it slightly could cause me to not his as high with certain moves .
For general strategies I recommend being over level 50, 55+ is good, and will probably allow you to outheal Flare Waves. Shurikens with Ninjas and Cure4 with Sages. All you really need to know. Other classes can be used too, but I don't see the point in wasting time levelling up to ridiculous levels just to do a 'challenge'. None of the bosses in this game have been hard until the last area anyway. For fun you could try level 91+ Onion Knights with Full Onion equipment either obtained from the Dragons near the top of Sylx Tower, or by using the upgrade equipment glitch she'll be torn to shreds.
Enjoy the ending too.

Part 21/22 in my Final Fantasy III - NES walkthrough.
Another set of fourCrystals in this dark world, conveniently named the Dark Crystals. We must defeat the Dark Cloud's generals as well as enemies that are upgrades of Eurekas.
Start by heading north west and getting the Ribbon from this section before finally finding your way round to the north west exit. Here you'll fight the first boss, Cerberus. He's probably the weakest of the four, his only attack Lightning deals around 700 damage to the whole party so you can Haste on the first turn and go all out Bahamut and fighting after that. He should die before he kills you. Approach the Dark Crystal and you'll free the first Dark Warrior.
Head back to the main room and leave the south west exit. This path is fairly simple in comparison to the last. You'll meet Echidna here. Probably the most difficult strategy wise, just know how to react to certain attacks. Quake will deal heavy damage to the party and Cure4 will be needed. Echidna can also use status moves but they often miss, giving you a free Bahamut turn. He also uses Meteo which is pretty much a guaranteed KO on one member, so Life2 that member next turn. Haste should be your first move with Sages as always though. Stick to this and he won't prove too hard.
You'll notice I dodge the treasure chest entirely. I believe their is a Ribbon chest in each of the four rooms, and I only need one more to plonk on my other Sage.
Next up the south east, a rather long winding (but straight forward) spiral path will lead you to Ahriman. He's probably the first enemy that can be described as having some kind of difficulty. Your healers most likely won't get any respite from Ahriman who attacks with moderate damage elemental multi target spells and a multi target meteo that CAN, but probably won't wipe the party out cold. Prioritise reviving a second Sage first, as this will give you twice the chance that a healer will survive to cast Life2 on a Ninja. Other than that, just heal heal heal with your Sages and attack attack attack with your Ninjas. He'll go down eventually.
Finally the north east section of this dungeon awaits. The Double Headed Dragon is the final challenge. He's somewhat easier than Ahriman, but don't underestimate his physical strength. Think of this fight as the Berserk strategy for Final Fantasy V against Shinryu, apart from this time there is a chance you won't get 1HKO'd so Life2 isn't completely pointless. He will attack every turn physically and most likely won't miss, and most likely will knock out the guy he hits. Obviously this is not a problem at all to someone with a stock of Phoenix downs or the Life spell still with usage. Attack him similarly to other fights, but don't bother rebuffing with Haste unless both Sages are alive.
Rescue the final Dark Warrior and head back to the main room. Head north here and along the secret path to reach the final room of this dungeon and indeed the game.

Part 20/22 in my Final Fantasy III - NES walkthrough.
The enemies in here are as tough as a lot of the bosses you've fought so far. It isn't too hard, but you'll need to heal regularly. Go around either side first for treasures and then loop round to the other side for more treasures. The only monster to watch out for now are the Flame Devils. They have an atack called flame which is a multi attack stronger than Amon's was, and yet they can appear in larger groups. Bahamut and Cure4 for safety. Cure4 should always be used by the Sage with the White Robe, which should be Refia who was trained along the White Mage route. The secret passages are very easy to spot by now, the colouring in the tile will be different as is the case for most of the game.
Red Dragons are worth fighting for Elixirs and a chance for Onion Swords/Shields. Onion equipment is the ultimate equipment for high level Onion Knights (90+) and is the best in the game.
This dungeon is pretty linear, which is a good thing given that the enemies are fairly tough, on floor 3 you'll head to the south east corner pop out and head back round and reappear in the south west of floor 3. Loop around to the north side of the screen and grab the two chests either side of the entrance to the next floor before proceeding. Head around and up to the 5th straight away. The layout is fairly confusing here, head to the south west and loop around to the north side and head to the next floor.
Another fairly simple floor awaits, ehad west and then east for treasures before going to the south to exit to the next floor. This floor has a simple layout too, but you'll need to venture into the water to gain all the Crystal euqipment. Grab the 4 chests and head into the final room.
A cut scene will occur and 5 Demon Dragon statues will paralyse you. 5 heroes from the game will conveniently come to your aid and distract them so you can fight Zande in the next room.
Haste both Ninjas in the first round. Zande is kind of obvious in his plans, he casts Libra to identify a party member and then casts meteo on them in the next turn. He'll die in a few turns like the rest of the pathetic bosses so far.
The major villain shows her sexy self up right at the end of this part, and as quite often for a Final Fantasy game, near the end of the game. She wipes the party out with ease using Flare Wave. Best piece of the music accompanies her when you fight her in my opinion too.
Unne and Dorga show up with the rest of the guys who were distracting the Dragons and the party is healed and ventures into the Darkness.
