Every year Jay captivates thousands of men, women, and young people with his transparent yet highly informative down-home style. Using humor, story, the occasional tall tale, experience, and life lessons acquired from over 20 years spent in the Rocky Mountain high country in pursuit of majestic elk, or via his sometimes harrowing tales of flying in F-4 Phantom jet fighters around the globe, Jay has a unique ability to engage others and to draw the audience into his story.21st century men are a collection of broken arrows. Jay states that at one time he was "the most broken of broken arrows." Some of the most significant contributors in history as well as some of the most notable were also broken arrows. Jay's shares personal stories of how God takes broken individuals, heals their brokenness, and molds them into some of his finest handiwork.
Jay is a nationally requested conference speaker, author, publisher, and hunting consultant. He has authored five extremely successful books on elk hunting and the high country. Jay is also the founder of the leading online resource of information for elk hunters, ElkCamp.com - Answers For Elk Hunters. Since 1996, Jay has helped thousands of outdoors-men achieve their dream of a true Rocky Mountain high country adventure.
Jay has traveled extensively across America teaching seminars speaking at numerous events and fundraising banquets.
Jay's priorities in life are simple: Serving God is #1, Loving His Wife & Family is #2, everything else falls somewhere behind #1 and #2. Jay's message to everyone is that when we get our priorities in order and when we finally come to grips with our individual purpose, i.e. why God has placed each of us here on earth, the challenges that we all experience become much more manageable. For the outdoorsman, Jay helps to clarify the answer to the question, What am I here for?
Jay has been a believer in Jesus Christ since 1973. His faith is evident throughout his writing and speaking. At 56, Jay has a heart for sharing his love for the Lord and telling tales of the high country.
Jay is joyfully married to his best friend Rae Ann, who he calls his most ardent supporter and encourager. Jay has four daughters, a son, and seven grandchildren. Jay served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard as a Weapons Systems Officer flying F-4 Phantom jet fighters. Jay holds a BS degree in Organizational Management from Colorado Christian University.
