I've personally done Step 1, 2 & 3 before on my computer. Although it take some time especially with defragment (took me 4hours plus), I manage to improve the speed of my computer significantly. The programs are not lagging or freezing while I'm using. The tips are really useful.

I love the tips on removing the visual effects. So far, I found it the best way to speed up the computer's performance. After removing some unnecessary processes in my startup, I realized my computer was never the same again. Great tip!
