The decision to send Engelbert to Eurovision is a stroke of genius. The rest of Europe may have their doubts about Britain, but they will recognise a proper singer when they hear one. For once, I'll be able to watch Eurovision and not feel embarrassed to be British. Go go go, Royaume-Uni!!!

There's something about these 2 I find excruciatingly self-regarding and therefore totally unfunny. They once did a supposed tribute DVD to Dusty Springfield that was all about them and how clever they were. Dreadful.

The story goes that Dusty was too ill to go to the Palace to receive her OBE, so the Queen made a point of visiting her in hospital (or perhaps at her home) to present it, the only time she has ever done this. I've no idea if this really is true, but it would be a fitting epitaph.

How marvellous! The UK sends a song to Munich which includes the lyric "I'm gonna win the war". We always were the World Diplomacy Champions.

maybe not the best euro song ever, but it just sums up everything I love about Eurovision - unashamedly camp, upbeat, a great performance and a cracking melody
