Larry has been an inspiration since the I heard him with the Crusaders and Steely Dan. Kid Charlemagne solo = magical. These videos are outstanding and really show the foundations of Larry's gifts for phrasing and harmony.

Tried bill&becky pickups (obl, keystone, 280, 290 and humbuckers) in a variety of guitars with ash, alder and mahogany bodies. the single-coils all share a clear glassy brightness, and all eventually got uninstalled - they can be "too much of what they are" but YMMV. I still use a Lawrence humbu...

passive tone circuit can boost as well as cut - capacitor + inductor (pickup) have a resonant peak frequency. greasebucket is supposed to defeat that bassy resonant peak. as always, personal taste is the final judge.
