I never heard of Bill as I'm normally into the dance & jazz bands of the era, that is until 1993 when I found a somewhat beat up but quite playable 78 or his and since then I've been hooked . His idol or inspiration was obviously Jimmie Rodgers.

@roybo1930 you have good tastes for sure. Each label had it's own distinct tone in those days. A good noise reducer which I'm lucky to have removes much of it on these so called"dime store" labels which the surfaces were somewhat rough but the sound was still great and reflects the times.
