あのデュラン相手によく頑張った。ガッツさんのスタイルはオーソドックスで美しい。体重も重くて、世界に通用するボクシングだっ­た。試合後、デュランから「ナイスファイト、イシマツ、サンキュー」と言われたことが自慢だそうだ。
