Born in Nigeria, Hope Opaiq moved to England as a young child, however, her love for music can be traced back to her birthplace, where she would sit for hours on end listening to the radio and copying the songs that would transcend from the airwaves of Africa. Hope Opaiq (pronounced "Oh-Payk") is gradually, but surely making her mark in the music industry. Currently working on her debut solo album, this songstress, has been carving out a beautifully constructed sound that infuses her love of Pop, Afro Beat, RnB and Jazz. Hope Opaiq: Musical Biog and Background With music in her blood from a very young age, Hope has been performing since, taking part in school plays and showcases nationwide. She started writing poetry at the age of 7 and this progressed to songwriting as her love for music was immanent. Over the ensuing years Hope's love for music deepened and she began to take a more serious, but fun approach to her songwriting skills and musical direction. At college Hope was in various groups, one of which was called S.T.O.R.M. It was at this stage that Hope got the opportunity to tour and perform on the club circuit in front of huge crowds. One of her biggest audiences was her performance at The Royal Festival Hall. The buzz of being live on stage and performing to people who appreciated music will stay with her forever. Hope experimented with different bands thereafter and went solo after that. Her solo performances were a great experience, and, with none of the other group members to turn to for help and support , Hope was forced to rely on herself and in return this made her stronger and even more passionate about her love for music. Hope continues to write and record her debut album, working with various producers. Songs recorded so far have been receiving rave reviews from industry bods. What happened to the little girl who wanted to sing? She's living her dream.
