About HomoFiles ~ a new play
"It is sad that the world we live in, which needs love so desperately, works so hard to stop it."
HOMOFILES is a new play.
The feedback we received at the premiere reading was very positive and enormously encouraging. We are now entering our 2nd phase of interviews and preparing for the re-write. We hope to perform staged readings in May and June, 2008. If you have a story you would like to share, please PM us.
If you would like to participate by sharing your story, PM me. We especially need the stories of high school and college age kids and transgender men and women.

Introduction1) HOMOFILES is a new play with the goal of significantly raising awareness and understanding of gay and lesbian, bisexual and transgender life as a normative state; to explore how and why discrimination and violence still exists here; and to illuminate what sometimes lies beneath the thin veneer of liberality. The play will be monologue-driven and feature several adult actors portraying a multitude of roles. We plan to use the historic success of "Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues" as the inspiration to create a springboard for dialogue among diverse audiences.
2) For the content of HOMOFILES, interviews and group discussions will be conducted with individuals of wide ranging ages and ethnicities. It will give voice to the various dimensions of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender life in America.
3) HOMOFILES will be researched and developed by playwright Stacy and director Toni. We seek individuals who are willing to share their experiences (see #5 for examples). These stories may be used as the foundation for one or more pieces in the play.
4) A "making of" HOMOFILES documentary will be filmed, (filming will include, but not be limited to: interviews, auditions, work-shopping, rehearsals, performances, and discussions with actors, audience members, writers, director, and other participants). Standard releases will be required for inclusion. Goal: to increase the audience and further the message.
5) WE ARE SEEKING STORIES OF PERSONAL EXPERIENCES. Examples include, but are not limited to: coming out stories; homophobia (such as difficulty adopting, inability to marry, victim of violence, lost opportunities); funny and uplifting stories. We are also particularly interested in stories from youth and we seek diversity. If you have a powerful story to share, we want to hear it.
6) Background on creators can be found at their website.
