MORE PROTESTANT MINISTERS ARE GUILTY OF PAEDOPHILIA THAN CATHOLIC PRIESTS, NEW RESEARCH REVEALS:

A Penn State historian, Philip Jenkins, has done an in depth research of paedophilia and sexual abuse among the clergy and has come up with some rather eye opening facts. It seems that while between 0.2 and 1.7 percent of Catholic clergy have been guilty of paedophilia, a whopping TEN percent of Protestant ministers have been found guilty of paedophilia !

This is all the more interesting, notes Jenkins, since there has been NO media term "Pastor Pedophilia" coined at all. Jenkins theorizes that the media overemphasizes any instance of paedophilia found among the Catholic clergy since it can use this to criticize the entire idea of celibacy. But it is interesting that the NON Celibate Protestant ministers have a MUCH GREATER problem with paedophilia than the celibate Catholic priests !

The Associated Press reported recently that three insurance companies receive upward of 260 reports each year of young people under 18 being sexually abused by Protestant clergy, challenging the assumption that clergy sexual abuse is an exclusively Catholic problem that does not take place in other churches.

That is a higher number than the annual average of 228 credible accusations brought against Catholic clerics. Despite headlines focusing on the priest paedophile problem in the Roman Catholic Church, most American churches being hit with child sexual-abuse allegations are Protestant. These are findings from national surveys by Christian Ministry Resources (CMR), a tax and legal-advice publisher serving more than 75,000 congregations and 1,000 denominational agencies nationwide.

"I think the CMR numbers are striking, yet quite reasonable," says Anson Shupe, an Indiana University professor who's written books about church abuse.

James Cobble, executive director of CMR, who oversees the survey, says the data show that child sex-abuse happens broadly across all denominations and that clergy aren't the major offenders. "The Catholics have gotten all the attention from the media, but this problem is even greater with the Protestant churches" he says.

Notwithstanding the difficulties that such data comparisons hold, the available information on clergy sexual misconduct shows that the problem is bigger among Protestant clergy. For example, the most cited survey of sexual problems among the Protestant clergy shows that 10 percent have been involved in sexual misconduct. With regard to the paedophile problem, the figure for the Catholic clergy, drawn from the most authoritative studies, ranges between 0.2 percent to 1.7 percent. Yet we hear precious little about these comparative statistics at all.

Paedophilia is an unacceptable outrage in all walks of life and is an evil that must be stamped out. No ordinary person could possibly find anything remotely funny about this crime and yet we have scores of jokes and disgusting comments about this distressing problem on Youtube every day.

Bitter people with an anti-Catholic agenda, often make vile and disgusting comments about Catholic Priests (and also mock and ridicule the victims of child abuse). This happens on Youtube and on other internet sites and it is totally unacceptable. They frequently post comments making fun of abuse that has taken place within Catholic Churches. While this abuse is indeed an intolerable outrage, many don't even care about the victims. They are only interested in discrediting and insulting the Catholic Church and the Catholic people.

But those posting insults are guilty of hypocrisy because there is an EVEN GREATER paedophile problem which affects Protestant Churches and its about time everyone was made aware of it. To joke about paedophilia is just one immoral step away from being an actual paedophile. No thought or consideration is given to the victims and to indulge in this online verbal abuse is reprehensible and deeply offensive and immoral.
