Many people say that the Zelter Viola Concerto is a crappy Hoffmeister. I beg to differ. They have different aspects to them. The Zelter is more note-y whereas the Hoffmeister has more rhythmic interest. So in a way, the Zelter is almost harder.

I just finished playing this piece, and personally I think more soft dynamics would've been good. I had the same issue. With viola, I think we're all scared that the piano will drown us, because by nature the instrument doesn't project as well as others. Don't be afraid to play softly!

I began playing viola when I was in 6th grade. I am now in 10th grade and attend the Greenville Fine Arts Center. I love music and that's basically what this channel is for! GREAT performance, but whoever filmed is pissing me off because they have total 1st violin complex, when there is so much conversation between 2 players that isn't being captured because you can't see the responses.
