About Me:

Following the debut of their highly-acclaimed mini album "What you left behind", Hollowblue have recently released the album "Stars are crashing (in my backyard)", the fruit of their first long-term project.
During the course of its twelve tracks, the album expresses not only the vibrant energy but also the feeling of melancholy typical of the band and of their performances.
By skilfully using classical cello and piano, subtly combined with the sounds of bass, electric guitar and drums, the Tuscan quintet evokes an atmosphere that is at times rarefied, at times tense and dramatic and the songs never fail speak to the listener in an intensely personal way.

In their new album, Hollowblue continue their tradition of collaboration with celebrated artists.
On their first album they collaborated with Anthony Reynolds, one of the masters of modern English spleen and the voice of Jack and owner of the solo project Jacques. Together they wrote the decadent "Io bevo" also producing a video of the song, which subsequently got through to the final of the competition "Videoclip Independente del MEI" and was also selected for the "Festival de Cine de Ponferrada" in Spain. In their album "Stars are crashing (in my backyard)", Hollowblue collaborate with the American writer, Dan Fante, (son of John Fante), in the album's opening song, "First Avenue" and with the singer, Lara Martelli in "We Fall".
"First Avenue" was written in close collaboration with Fante, who has received high critical acclaim in over eleven countries.
In "We Fall", Hollowblue's singer and Martelli perform a duet, accompanied by a soaring crescendo on string and wind instruments.

Hollowblue, which started its journey as the one solo voice of Gianluca Maria Sorace, became a fully-fledged group in 2003, when he joined forces with Marco Calderisi, guitar, Gian Carlo Russo, bass, Federico Moi, drums and Chiara Cavalli, violin and piano.
The group quickly gained a high reputation with the Italian press and this was soon followed by enthusiastic reviews and accolades both nationally and internationally in the UK, USA, France, Spain and Sweden.
Chiara Cavalli and Sarah Crespi shared the role of Hollowblue's violinist, but it wasn't until the cellist, Ellie Young joined the group that they finally found the sound they had been looking for.

The group, which has a busy promotional concert schedule in Italy, was also chosen as one of the 34 finalists (out of more than 2000 candidates) for the Heineken Jamming Festival 2007.
