In addition to having been published in memorial CD packs, this song has been released in
Teresa Teng's Album - Rose Maiden 玫瑰姑娘 in 1970, and Teresa Teng's Album of Old Songs Remembered Number Two 鄧麗君懷念歌曲 (第二集) in 1978. According to Wikipedia, ""Those Were the Days" [1] a song is credited to Gene Raskin, who put English lyrics to the Russian gypsy song "Dorogoi dlinnoyu" ("Дорогой длинною"), written by Boris Fomin (1900-1948) with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevskii. It deals with reminiscence upon youth and romantic idealism. The first known recording of the song was by Alexander Vertinsky in the 1920s. The song is best remembered for Mary Hopkin's 1968 recording, which was a top-ten hit in both the U.S. and the U.K." The melody is from Mary Hopkin's "Those Were The Days" in 1968. I have included the lyrics of the English original after this Chinese rendition by Teresa Teng.
