In the 1970's Tom was taught shop safety and was free to explore his imagination. Tom made many of his own toys. He made boats on strings and sailboats including square-riggers and try hauls. He also made many different things that flew. One was a cardboard box that was reshaped into an airfoil with handles on the bottom. On a windy day he ran down a hill and left the ground scaring himself. In 1980 he was introduced to radio controlled aircraft. In that first year he designed his first glider and powered aircraft. After three years he deigned an airplane that went about 150 miles an hour. An 1988 his aircraft where flying so well that in his travels to R/C fly-ins around Michigan other people wanted his aircraft designs. He also was successful in designing a leading edge slot that worked with the small renelds numbers. This is something that was not found to work for other people for decades. A leading edge slot is an anti stall device that attaches to the leading edge of a wing. In 1990 Tom started his first business called High T.E.K. Models. The leading edge slot sold very well all over the world and his first aircraft didn't do so bad. In 1992 he introduced his second aircraft which sold very well. All of the R/C aircraft magazines did articles on it and loved it. There where thee sizes made. 36" wingspan, 56", and 84". The 56" aircraft called the Eliminator 40 won contest all over the country. Tom went to many trade shows including weak signals in Toledo Ohio. This was at the time the biggest show in the world of it's kind. Tom was featured in Models airplane news for his 25-foot glider. While working for other people some of the things he did was to develop his own vacuum pod system for the CNC router. This decrested the set up time from 20 minutes to 10 seconds. He modified the routers to do things the manufactures said was impossible and made changes to the Alpha cam software that they said was impossible. Tom also made his own CNC router from scratch, 5x10 table with 3 heads. In 2009 Tom joined up with David Gish and started a company called Ruwach Design L.L.C.. The first two designs are a wind turbine that produces 8.3 time more torque and a space heater. Tom's heating bill for 2007-2008 was $3180.52. In the winter of 2009-2010 using his new heater his heating cost went down to $548.39. June 15,2010 Tom and Ruwach Design L.L.C. Became finalist in the Innovation Michigan award contest. Tom gives all the glory to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the new inventions.
