I don't mean to be a nerd either but the sun just doesn't have the mass needed to become a black hole. I will just become a white drarf and eventually grow dark. But it will be a REALLY big diamond when it's all said and done.

Five or so billion years from now, Earth's present orbit won't be a good place to be as the Sun swells dramatically before dying to its white dwarf...
