First I was like: she doesn't look scary at all!!! (huge anticlimactic feeling)
Then, few seconds later, when she sits there and does this weird turning thing, appraising her guests, smiling demurely, I thought she's well creepy and then she just explodes.
I think they did a very good, modern...

Edward had always planned to marry Jane, even when he invited the Ingrams and flirted with Blanche, it was all a ruse, a lead up to the proposal. But yes, he needed to make absolutely sure that Jane's feelings equalled his own. Like in the novel, we get the story from Jane's perspective, so we do...

Aww, Edward is moping all over the place, missing Jane so much!! But seriously, do none of his guests think it's weird how their host suddenly gets all depressed and hides away like a hermit? He's being sooo obvious lol :D

"Devil you will!! Advertise!!"
I love the way he totally panics when Jane talks of leaving him...it's like he's losing control of this whole game he has devised. And Jane can barely surpress a grin when he hits the roof. God, they're actually such a fun couple. She's very cheeky and bold in this...

I know it's all deviating from the novel...but I love how the BBC included those element of the book that are analysed and interpreted by scholars, like the Gothic elements, and the Nature vs. Nurtutre debate (bad blood and good blood). I think it really gives you a sense of what the Victorians w...

Standards of beauty were SO different back then and now:
Like Jane is always said to be so slight and petite, whereas Blanche, who is considered to be the belle of the country is described as "an armful" (quote Rochester in the novel). Today, Jane would be a size zero and Blanche would be called ...

@ravenel2 Me too!! Like he's the only one who actually perceives that Rochester is wooing Jane, not Blanche (though Edward isn't very subtle about it) Eshton's the 'enlightened' character in every sense of the word :)

First time I saw this, I was also like 'Wha?? Snogging on the bed..when did that happen???' but now I actually think it's an original take on the leaving scene...it shows Rochester's passionate despair not in an aggressive way, just highly intense...and I love how his face crumbles just for a spl...

Oh my God I looooove this ending so much!! It's my favourite adaptation and I've seen nearly all! Toby Stephens as Rochester just got something about him, that certain something that actually makes you believe and understand why Jane fell for him...

The Sullivan films are good in their own way, like visually stunning etc. but the BBC are just the best at Literary adaptation...
