    Jane Eyre 2006 Episode 3 Part 6

Last part of the third episode of the BBC's 2006 version of Jane Eyre. Starring Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson. Copyright BBC.

First I was like: she doesn't look scary at all!!! (huge anticlimactic feeling)

Then, few seconds later, when she sits there and does this weird turning thing, appraising her guests, smiling demurely, I thought she's well creepy and then she just explodes.

I think they did a very good, modern...

    Jane Eyre 2006 Episode 3 Part 3

Part 3 of episode 3 of the BBC's 2006 version of Jane Eyre. Starring Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson. Copyright BBC.

Edward had always planned to marry Jane, even when he invited the Ingrams and flirted with Blanche, it was all a ruse, a lead up to the proposal. But yes, he needed to make absolutely sure that Jane's feelings equalled his own. Like in the novel, we get the story from Jane's perspective, so we do...

    Jane Eyre 2006 Episode 3 Part 1

First part of the third episode of the BBC's 2006 version of Jane Eyre. Starring Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson. Copyright BBC.

Aww, Edward is moping all over the place, missing Jane so much!! But seriously, do none of his guests think it's weird how their host suddenly gets all depressed and hides away like a hermit? He's being sooo obvious lol :D

    Jane Eyre 2006 Episode 2 Part 6

Last part of episode 2 of the BBC's 2006 version of Jane Eyre. Starring Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson. Copyright BBC.

    "Devil you will!! Advertise!!"

I love the way he totally panics when Jane talks of leaving him...it's like he's losing control of this whole game he has devised. And Jane can barely surpress a grin when he hits the roof. God, they're actually such a fun couple. She's very cheeky and bold in this...

    Jane Eyre 2006 Episode 2 Part 3

Part 3 of episode 2 of the BBC's 2006 version of Jane Eyre. Starring Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson. Copyright BBC.

I know it's all deviating from the novel...but I love how the BBC included those element of the book that are analysed and interpreted by scholars, like the Gothic elements, and the Nature vs. Nurtutre debate (bad blood and good blood). I think it really gives you a sense of what the Victorians w...

    Jane Eyre 2006 Episode 1 Part 5

Part 5 of the BBC's 2006 version of Jane Eyre. Starring Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson. Copyright BBC.

Standards of beauty were SO different back then and now:

Like Jane is always said to be so slight and petite, whereas Blanche, who is considered to be the belle of the country is described as "an armful" (quote Rochester in the novel). Today, Jane would be a size zero and Blanche would be called ...

Jane Eyre: Return to Thornfield Hall

Romance is certainly in the air for Mr Rochester - but is it Blanche or Jane that has caught his eye?

Watch more Jane Eyre from BBC Worldwide here...

@ravenel2 Me too!! Like he's the only one who actually perceives that Rochester is wooing Jane, not Blanche (though Edward isn't very subtle about it) Eshton's the 'enlightened' character in every sense of the word :)

    Jane Eyre (2006)_ Proposal Scene

Mr. Rochester asks Jane for marrying him

actually love the bit when they come in from the rain and he just can't let her go, keeps pulling her in for one more kiss. You just get the full force of how happy and exhilerated they are!

Jane Eyre (2006)_ 'I must leave you, Mr. Rochester'

When Jane knows that Edward is a married man, she decides to leave him. In this version, Jane remembers how she flees Thornfield Hall.

First time I saw this, I was also like 'Wha?? Snogging on the bed..when did that happen???' but now I actually think it's an original take on the leaving scene...it shows Rochester's passionate despair not in an aggressive way, just highly intense...and I love how his face crumbles just for a spl...

    PERSUASION (1971) Episode I - Part 1/12

BBC adaptation of Jane Austen's novel

I'm on an Austen binge this week...should be studying, instead I keep watching and rewatching old period dramas!!

I love the newest adaptations, but I can appreciate these old ones too, they have a charm of their own!

Jane Eyre 2006 - Happy End

Mr Rochester proposes to Jane again and they live happily ever after!

Oh my God I looooove this ending so much!! It's my favourite adaptation and I've seen nearly all! Toby Stephens as Rochester just got something about him, that certain something that actually makes you believe and understand why Jane fell for him...

And of course, he's hilarious, especially when ...

anne of avonlea 1975 part 31

I was the same...very suspicious of this version, but then I loved so much...watching it for the second time now and it's even better!! So detailed and true to the book!! The Sullivan films are good in their own way, like visually stunning etc. but the BBC are just the best at Literary adaptation...
