Herb's songs blend the styles of folk, country, pop and blues, drawing inspiration from his extended family, friends and travels. His music, dubbed Americana by one close friend, is both reflective and humorous, with a clean sound that draws the listener's ear to carefully crafted words and music. Herb pokes fun at the foibles of all of us — technical and social — while at the same time reminding us that we're all here for a reason: to help each other. Says the Journal's Lou King, Tyson writes about the simple everyday things from the ridiculous to the sublime that our fast-paced lives sometimes cause us to overlook.

On Stage

Herb has opened for Cleve Francis at the Birchmere. He performed for Senator Chuck Robb and Virginia Governor Mark Warner at UCM Community Solutions' annual gala, and for other dignitaries at the Arlington Free Clinic's 2003 celebration of their Points of Light award. He has appeared with Bernie Muller-Thym, of Da Vinci's Notebook, Greg Greenway and others. Herb is on the list of approved artists for the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage. Herb performs often at local restaurants, schools, coffeehouses, churches and other venues in the Washington, DC area.
