1. Make a script (short headings are fine)
2. Prepare your material.
3. Do a few dry runs.
4. Speak clearly. For some people an American accent is hard to follow

His age has nothing to do with it nor the depth of his voice. It's just not very well sung, the tune is repetitive and the lyrics are not that interesting. I'm sure he is a great guy and good luck but choose a different song next time. (Professional advice)

Good but sorry Don Maclean is still better. There are very few cover versions that are better or as good as the original. 2 examples that worked well; Procul Harum and Annie Lennox "A Whiter Shade of Pale" , REM and The Corrs "Everybody Hurts"
