Coming from a dynasty of family musicians, my father, Joseph William Hemingway I, my first music instructor. My grandmother, Jazz artist Stenis Bryson, introduced and taught Jazz theory and variations of chord structures; scales: blues, major, minor, pentatonic-scale of five tones to the octave, usually with the fourth and seventh tones of the major scale, omitted. Mrs. James Whitson, Mrs. Bertha O. Walker, and Mrs. Arnary Brooks-Bogan, were magnificent piano instructors!
Mr. Alfred Bolden taught me Classical Hammond Organ; Mr. Frank E. White, taught me the great Pipe Organ, which the technique greatly differs from the Hammond...
