I am a women's empowerment facilitator, holistic menstrual health educator, author, red tent celebrationist, filmmaker and graphic/web designer.
As partner in Woman Wisdom Corp, we create multimedia educational products to empower women and girls globally.
"From Girl to Woman" is a 60 min. DVD, in four segments, available for purchase through our website.
The feature presentation weaves themes of indigenous moontime teachings, self-care and self-esteem building, primordial feminine imagery in nature and art and multi-cultural approaches to girls' coming of age rites, including Native American, Latina, African American, Jewish, Hindu, Japanese and contemporary Goddess traditions.
The second segment features intimate highlights of a contemporary menarche ceremony in which an intergenerational group of women welcome a young girl into womanhood after her first menstruation.
The third segment is a puppet show in which viewers travel to one of the grand European opera houses for a whimsical female reproductive anatomy lesson guaranteed to make you chuckle...and think.
The final segment is an interview with the director (me) where I share my personal story and inspiration for creating this project.
The DVD is appropriate for mixed genders, ages 10+. It has broad application for home use and academic settings - from elementary to college levels in women's studies, reproductive education, female adolescent development and women's cultural anthropology courses.
We have also created a comprehensive coming of age kit, "Coming of Age: From Bud to Flower," with structured activities for women and girls to share together and a special multimedia program for adult women on holistic approaches to their fertility cycle from puberty through menopause, "Women's Rites of Passage: Reconnecting to the Source of Feminine Power."
These educational products integrate profound wisdom teachings covering the biology, psychology, ecology, spirituality and anthropology of the female fertility cycle.
Included are workbooks, lesson plans, interactive exercises, craft projects, meditations, celebration guidelines and resources.
