Yiddish is very difficult to obtain these days. There are not many classes or dictionaries out there to help us. I lost most of what I knew since I was about 11. It is very hard to keep up since there are not many people to practice with, especially in my city. Most people don't even know about Jewish Autonomous Oblast, which I hope I can put back on the map and make yiddish rise from the ashes!

Thanks so much for your kind words. Someone gave me a book of your Uncle's translations a while back and I really liked them because they capture an amazing range of different poets and styles in rhymed readable American English. Most Yiddish poetry translations are poor, these were excellent. What's really impressive about them though is that most translators specialize in a single poet or two (or should specialize in only a single poet but don't) but your Uncle was able to capture a wide range of styles from different places and times. The book I have is the collection "A Century of Yiddish Poetry". I only wish it contained the Yiddish originals because those are often hard to obtain. But I'll make more videos using his translations in the future. I'm trying my hand at translating Yiddish poems myself.
