As a professional flutist and year round resident of Mackinac Island, Heather May has played for weddings and other special events on Mackinac Island for the past decade. Heather is a graduate from Central Michigan University, holding degrees in Music Performance and Music Education, recently accepting a position as K-12 Music Teacher at Mackinac Island Public School. Previous performances include the 2007 Mackinac Music Festival, and the 2007 SEMFA Flute Festival. Heather has performed in the Midland Symphony Orchestra and Ypsilanti Community Band, and has given concerts with the MICF Summer Concert Series for the past four years. With music performance as her career, Heather also helps out her family at the family business, May's Mackinac Fudge Shops, located in downtown Mackinac Island.

A little background on my flute playing: I started out playing on a student level Armstrong flute, then moved up to a Gemeinhardt 3KSB, which is what I've currently been playing for the past 8 years. It's a great flute, but I'm considering purchasing a Brio or flute in the same family in the near future, so if anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear them!
