in stitch 9 - 3 double crochets (stitches if you like) with a chain of 2 on the end of the last double crochet (stitch).
in stitch 10 - a slip stitch to finish.
I hope that explains how the 5 petals are created. There are 5 sets of 3 double crochets (forming the petals) and 5 slip...
