When I started this channel, my goal was to make many videos of myself playing various whistles. That's why I chose the name "heartywhistler." I didn't spend as much time as I'd anticipated playing whistles, but have pursued some other interests, such as wildlife rehabilitation, being out in nature, and many other things.

I worked for two years in a wildlife center, but stopped taking care of animals there, because I moved out of state. I currently reside in Idaho.

I still like making videos of animals, and have found many to observe and film, in such places as nature areas, parks, and my own backyard.

I love animals, and I love nature, so that is what I have in most of my vids.

However, I also like a lot of variety, so I have made videos of live music performances, book reviews, roller derby, and more.

An important note about the animals in enclosures. NONE of these animals are mine! All the animals, such as the hawks in the owls, that are in enclosures were filmed at the wildlife rehabilitation center where I worked. The center is run according to strict guidelines from the dept. of fish and game.
