When you interlock your hair to keep it locked, What is the texture of your hair?

ok did the texture change when you palm rolled it. I would like to do my hair in sister locs, i'm meant to do it in three months time. but im just concerned on how the texture will be, maybe im being tooooo fussy. Thanks much
