    In 2009, for the 81st Academy Awards, the production company Prologue did something very clever: they took the year's five Best Picture nominees (Slumdog Millionaire, Frost/Nixon, The Reader, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Milk) and spliced them together with nominees from the past, grouping the films by similar themes and motifs.

    The Oscars haven't done that since, but I liked it so much that I decided to try it myself with this year's nine nominees. The result is this four-minute, fifty-nine-film montage, a mix of old and new.
