@yvonneLYR Hi, the point of the acid is to break down the glycosidic bond between the monosaccharides. I don't think it will work well without the acid.

All monosaccharides are reducing sugars: i.e. glucose and fructose.

The benedicte test for reducing sugards should work with those monosaccharides mentioned above.

On the other hand, it should not work with the other sugars except molasse.

Molasses contain sucrose, fructose and glucose ...
