About this user

I worked at RCA with Joe Reisman, Rick Jarrard, Al & Ritchie Schmidt, Dick Bogert, Gre Landun and Bill Graham, Jr., with all of whom I remained close friends for about half a century.
I was a Tiger Beat and Monkee Spectacular reporter for Chuck and Ira Laufer, and the editor of the famous Mod Teen Magazine, going on assignments with Annie Moses and Anne Moore, the GF of my next door neighbor and close daily companion during 1967-68 in the Canyon, Jim Morrison.
My girlfriend Jon was a dancer with Frank Zappa; she was BFF with Ellen Naomi Cohen, best known as Cass Elliot; they used to drop and go up to Malibu Canyon to watch the UFOs land, dig it?
My friend Vito Paulekas and I body-painted my girlfriend and her girlfriends for Frank Zappa freakouts, and my friend Tommy and I booked the Love-Ins, Be-Ins and Freakouts at Griffith Park for our program "Green Power" feed the hippies movement.
Our shop was the only place you could get concert tickets in LA from 1967-1972. We saw a lot of action.
Among my circle of friends were Frank Gorshin, Frank Herbert, Frank Zappa and Frank Sinatra and a few other Franks as well. I worked for Peter Lawford, whose mom had been my next-door neighbor on Hillgard Ave. in Westwood Village back in the 1950s.
I also worked for all the juniors -- Dino, Desi, Tony, Liza, Spike Jones, Jr. and even Peter Lorre, Jr., a suprisingly towering Hulk Hogan type. His actor dad was tiny, if you didn't already know that...but if you aren't aware of Peter Lorre, what would you be doing on this page?
My literary agent throughout the years was Forry Ackerman, editor of Famous Monsters Magazine, one of Harry's and my Favorite People of All Time. Only Ringo, John and Yoko made it onto that All Time Faves list.
My stepdad Paul Donner Spencer was Marketing Director at Capitol Records, and was a personal friend of John F. Kennedy and other high-level celebs, and we had every major dj in our house for Friday dinners, including Wolfman Jack, my favorite dinner guest. My "auntie" Peggy Lee, and my "uncle" George Shearing, were both Capitol label artists, both of whom stayed in touch with me through the years.
In the 1960s, I spent every afternoon in the Capitol Records recording studios waiting for my stepdad to get off work -- he had a car, I didn't, being a NYC kid who knew the New York Subway Map by heart; our house was way the hell up at 2290 Holly Drive in Hollywood Hills, a long, long walk from the bus stop on Franklin Avenue.
He drove a TR-2 with a Mayflower engine, a two-seater early sports car similar to the one driven by Maxwell Smart in the series pilot -- the car was switched to accommodate the sponsor.
Some of my stepdad's golfing partners were Vic Damone, Billy Sunday and on occasion, Arnold Palmer. My stepdad was highest ranked among amateurs and could have easily done the Tour had he not landed the job at Capitol.
One of my own golfing partners I found to be particularly capable was (arm raised high in air, speaking in a high-pitched pseudo-cowboy accent) "Hi! I'm Glen Campbell!" He was one hell of a golfer! We used to joke mercilessly about that greeting, and about the oddities of our circle of friends, Paul "Cousin Itt" Williams was just one, and I'll tell you about that story (he wrote the theme song for Addams Family) and Tommy Smothers was another -- all of them will get their 15 minutes on my pages as we go along...
I knew Johnny "Tarzan" Weismuller well, and Gypsy Boots, Jack LaLanne and Wild Bill Tucker, the "greeter" of Hollywood, and worked at Universal Studios, MGM, Paramount, KNXT-TV, KCRA-TV, KCOP-TV and a variety of radio stations, then went into publicity and promotion, while doing gigs on Sunset Strip (and Hullaballoo when we couldn't get paying gigs) with my band.
I worked on tv shows, variety shows, films of all kinds, including two with my longtime bud, Chris Lawford, and Lou Shaw's MacBird with my friends Phil Bruns, Jill Andre, Bill Lucking and Bob DoQui.
Harry was my Longtime Friend over many years, and his last visit from Christmas to New Year's in 1993 was a treasure for all of us, and for Harry, it was, to quote him: "The Best Christmas Ever!" -- and that's on the video. On that visit, I promised him that I would try to "cross-pollinate" his work with art, theatre, dance and literature, the best way to ensure its survival, as he had asked and, with the development of this website, I honor that pledge to my Best Bud, Harry the Schmil.
I hope you enjoy the videos. We never grew up, and listening to us talk is like hearing us at ten years old, still wondering what it's all about...could it possibly really be the Hokey-Pokey???
