About this user
I'm going for THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!! But it's hard to fit everything into 60 seconds. I LOVE getting out there and getting into it!
I'm CRAZY about travelling, having completed a round the world trip in 2005 and several voluntary conservation projects abroad, including 6 months on a reef research project in Borneo. I qualified as a BSAC Sports Diver and lived on an amazing uninhabited island with 20 other volunteers, staff and 1 million sandflies!!
I notched up hours of snorkelling practice and had to pass tough exams on fish and coral species identification. I have
over 150 dives under my belt in Borneo, Australia, Fiji and Ecuador.
I spent a month as a volunteer studying humpback whale movements in Ecuador and have travelled to many other countries to ski, camp, hike and experience as much
as possible. I've recently returned from a 2 month trip around Europe in a DIY converted ex-Royal Mail campervan which was fantastique!! I love immersing myself in new cultures, meeting people and trying new things.
When I'm home in the UK I sail, crew on a race yacht, windsurf, swim, ride horses, bike and run. I completed the London Marathon (very slowly) and Triathlon for Charity and try my best to keep fit. I'm also very interested in photography and art. I paint animal portraits for a living and was awarded a Young Artists Bursary by the Society of Wildlife Artists in 2006.
Many people would see this as a six month holiday but I see this as once in a lifetime opportunity to show the world what an amazing place the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding islands are. It's the world's largest living structure. At nearly 2,000km long it can be seen from outer-space! It's home
to hundreds of fish, invertebrates and coral species. It's also a fantastic place to visit for a holiday with golf, sailing, fishing, snorkelling and diving all on hand. Even if you can't swim the fabulous island sights, bars and restaurants will keep you busy. Ahhhh experiencing the best of the fantastic Aussie lifestyle....great weather, fantastic food, wonderful wines and lovely people! I would love the chance to show the world what an amazing location Hamilton island is. The reef is a natural wonder and how we need to protect it's beauty and fragility as much as enjoying what it has to offer.
