Brian Jett was born in Grandforks, N.D. in 1965 and grew up around the country as his father was career military. Nothing caught his attention for very long except music from a very young age. His childhood and teenage musical influences included Stevie Wonder, Karen Carpenter, Donny Hathaway, Joe Pass, Earl Klugh, George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Phil Keaggy, Barney Kessel, and a number of vocalist from the 1940s and 50s. Notably, Sarah Vaughn and June Christy.

He began playing guitar at age 14 and by age 19 had been fortunate enough to meet B-3 regional stand out, Bill Farris and his son, David Farris, a 15 year old prodigy - both from Versailles, Kentucky. The Fake Book, hours of practice, and a love for improvisation and originality moved him to pursue music throughout the early 1990s playing routinely with the "Boss of the B-3" Winston Walls and on one memorable occasion, brother Jack McDuff.

Jett didn't pick up the guitar too often after completing graduate school at the University of Kentucky in 1992 but did manage to write lyrics to country tunes and compose many lite jazz guitar compositions to include the soulful Benson style original, "Remembering When." His happy song, "With The Flow" and "St. James Court" recorded with bassist, Doug Griffin, has caught the attention of lite jazz lovers who enjoy tasteful and joyful melodic lines.

The music was put to digital format after being inspired to pursue his primary love and passion of "...playing from soul what's heard in my heart..."

These older and relatively well preserved discoveries were enhanced and released in May, 2009 for purchase via iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Lala, Rhapsody and other online sources. Brian's newest soulful CD project incorporating tasteful multi-layered guitar-synth instrumentation has opened up a myriad of melodic possibilities and pretty musical inflections.

A 1996 meeting with the late Chet Atkins and conversations with the late Cincinnati based guitar great, Cal Collins, acted as inspiration for Jett to pick up his varied collection of guitars to further hone the skills to a level he left untapped earlier.

Brian is currently writing and arranging gospel, country, RnB, and other instrumental jazz tunes including old hymns brought to a smooth jazz life with his soulful style that continues to grow as he does.

Brian G. Jett's (Pen Name) name is well known among authors associated with his ability to foment inspirational, thought-provoking quotations which now number over 700 - published world wide in a multitude of books, assays, scholastic missives, and Internet sources. His writings can be found in "Chicken Soup for the Soul" best selling series of books, "The Washington Post", "Wisdom Magazine", "Venice Gulf Coast Magazine", "Nothing To Fear" by the late Larry Burkett, KentuckyPetz Magazine, and a host of other publications.

His desire is to continue to inspire by word and by soulful guitar artistry developed mostly by ear and from "playing what I hear..."
