unbelievable ... where did you find this? SIGNE ANDERSON!!! This is very important ... it is the reason the Jefferson Airplane took off. Anderson was the blues in the Jefferson Airplane. She was one of the great voices in the 60s even if it was for a brief period.

I thought this was a great performance no matter what they say about their state of mind. Tried to get into one of their concerts but there was a riot and it ended 'prematurely' ... standard for the time. Too bad Spencer is gone ... really loved his style on those skins.

Spencer Dryden's drumming ... why didn't he stay ... fired, tired but it was so great at Woodstock.

I just want to say that Spencer Dryden was such a talent. His transitions and sensitivity really were the Airplane. I have nothing against Joey Covington but Spencer to me was the necessary component or bridge in the complex nature of JA.

Also, a key part of this band, besides 'hot tuna', was Spencer Dryden. After he left it was more straight-up rock drumming without the jazz inflection. They lost something there.

spencer ... dryden. Listen to the lines he takes in this song. He is slowly changing the songs direction ... pure jazz. Yes, there is Jack on an overwhelming bass layer but Spencer is the foundation. I think they lost a lot when he left the band.

It gives you shivers when Grace raises her voice. It gives you the feeling they are going to launch but of course we are in wooden ships. The audience looks like it will erupt at that point 1:20. Too bad they didn't go full electric ... Grace seemed to be ready ... but then they would have had a ...

Paul Kantner was correct ... Grace should be singing ... even today. Her originality and interpretation. The three should be singing together. One more thing: Spencer ... his upbeat tempo change makes this song go.

Grace Slick and Great Society ... GS? Intentional?? Her singing was great even then.

I couldn't get into a JA concert because of everyone rioting. Some people think they weren't as popular as other bands but I know better. Their blues and jazz intersection was so deep. The psychedelic interpretation was the result of the blues and jazz mix ... some people think it is a mis-tuning...
