Las Vegas has its own version of El Sistema in the form of four youth orchestras that comprise the LAS VEGAS YOUTH ORCHESTRAS and number over 300 participants.
Additionally, the Clark County School Systems (the 5th largest in the US) has a vital music program that has NEVER experienced cuts in funding, but has grown to be one of the finest examples how music needs to be CENTRAL to the education of ALL young people.

########################Harold Weller is the Founding Music Director & Conductor Laureate of the Las Vegas Philharmonic. Weller retired on June 30, 2007 completing a distinguished forty-five year career as music director of orchestras in Ohio, Virginia, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada.
Weller is also the Founding Music Director of the Ashland (Oh) Symphony and the Old Dominion (Va) Symphony as well as Conductor Laureate of the Flagstaff (Az) Symphony.
Now at age 70, Hal is actively involved in the Foundation to Assist Young Musicians (FAYM) which he established in 2007. FAYM now assists with the education and career development of talented and needy young musicians world wide.
The FOUNDATION TO ASSIST YOUNG MUSICIANS (FAYM) was officially launched in December, 2007 with recitals and orchestral appearances in Arizona and Nevada by violinist Kryzsztof Rucinski.
