Why am I a Christian? I am a Christian, not because I believe I am perfect, but because of the truth. The truth, being that I am a sinner not deserved of salvation. Therefore I cling to the Bible because it tells me how to live a life of righteousness (even though I continue to fall short of its standards).

Jesus didn't come to Earth for the religious, he came to speak with the sinners.
Matthew 9
