Growing up (Born 1986 in Stockholm Sweden) I always took pride in expressing myself in different ways. Some ways were more odd than others. I remember as a kid drawing morbid scenes of tied up people in some sort of factory-like rooms, with flesh-eating plants around them. (Im still hoping to find the drawings hidden in a box somewhere within the next few years, but I doubt they still exist)

I think I wanted to create something that actually caused a strong reaction. The most obvious and simple thing to illustrate to get that strong reaction is violence or typically fearful images. Some other types of controversial messages occurred in the drawings until someone caught me. Probably no more than 10 years old I became a bit confused when I realized that I wanted to do the things I did, expressing myself in the way I felt like during this time. But for the first time my pride of expressing myself got interfered with a feeling of guilt.

Some years later I started to write. Prose and poems, and the poems eventually turned in to rap lyrics. I listened to the rappers recorded on tapes from radio, imitating their delivery and structure. It was terrible at first but I eventually got quite good. Im positive these studies of rap still helps me when Im writing today, though I left the raplyric-format a few years ago. Focusing on writing prose, stories that needs their entirely own introduction, I came closer to finding my own style - an almost entirely non-violent and a bit surreal horror category.

The writing took so much out of me that I found myself needing some way to escape all the arguments. The words where good to use, but not enough and i needed a break.

I started to paint with a technique that I developed inspired by Marianne Lagergren, my grandmothers work. She showed me how she used a palette knife to create the body of a tree. Instantly I wondered how it would be to have the entire canvas covered with that very same technique.

The same week I had three big canvases drying on my walls. And I cant seem to stop. All in the name of expression and existence.
