Never managed to catch The Alarm live but they were then and remain one of my favourite acts. The emotion and raw power is as fresh today as it ever was and they are still seriously under-rated. How many so-called music fans know anything more of their repertoire than "68 Guns"?

Always a stirring piece but this performance stands among the best I have heard. Sometimes borrowed (Scott Fitzgerald & Yvonne Keeley, and for the movie Babe) but this is the original. Listen to the whole work; it moves from eerie through sublime to superb and that first organ chord in the fin...

Golant Pistons morphed into Mike & The Mechanics ("Silent Running") and I believe the Mechanics are still playing the pub circuit around Cornwall. Golant is a small village in SE Cornwall

Power, passion, musicianship and personal agenda all superbly displayed. Bragg at his best. Yes he's traded the rough end of London for the comforts of rural life but he hasn't lost his cutting edge nor sold out on his uncompromising stand against repression of the working class.

40 years since we lost Adge Cutler and the song is as fresh as ever. Even if the lads are starting to show a bit of those years now!

A remarkable 40 years since we lost Adge Cutler and this song has stood the test of those years superbly. The lads are showing their age but good on 'em for keeping the Wurzel tradition alive.

One of the best freebies I was ever given. Produced by my former landlord's son who presented me with a copy. Years later I found the Golant Pistons playing as "Big" Al Hodge and the Mechanics alongside the band I was then managing not a million miles from the village of Golant. Superb stuff....

Not that deep. If driven slowly and carefully and without releasing the throttle it's OK. Police would close the road if it got dangerous. Most vehicles are getting through.
One relatively obscure song which says it all about music radio. Impossible to find as a download as is the seminal "Caught in the Act of Being Ourselves" An absolute classic though I have to say I prefer the version released as a single.
