After 15 years the musician, producer and composer Gustavo Nanez presents his first solo album
«Pintame la casa».
Due to his theatrical and musical background, this work presents a large diversity of cultural experiences and identities. Nanez defines his music as an opinionated interpretation of world music; a fusion between modern and traditional.
Gustavo's career started in the eighties in the city of Lima as a theatre student of the Catholic University of Lima and at the same time as the lead singer of the legendary rock-group «Hecho a mano», which was very popular in Cusco and in the interior of Peru.
It was not until Gustavo came to Europe he discovered his passion for Latin music and Hip-hop. He exchanged experiences and traditions with Cuban, Colombian and Brazilian musicians and let his compositions be influenced by the rhythms of his intercultural surrounding.
The instrumental variety of his new CD reaches from electro beats to percussion to Cuban tres and
embodies a rainbow of musical colours from Pop, Salsa, Bolero, Rock, Son, Samba and Hip-hop. This
time Nanez plays all instruments himself and gives the music the last touch in collaboration with the producer team Orza/Grab (ganzerplatz productions).
In his texts Gustavo tells odd histories of life and love, of poverty and of a 'post-colonial' world.
The composer positions himself as a part of a global society in which his songs do not approve of any boundaries.
